Winner project of the competition announced by the Municipality of Samugheo. The sculpture is placed in Piazza Repubblica, at one rib of the Church of San Sebastiano, in the heart of Samugheo's historic center and main community meeting point.

 

It consists of a concrete base left exposed and a series of metal drums that rise from the base to a height of 4 meters. At the top of the shafts are illuminating elements ( LED lights) that appear linear like light trails. The sculpture addresses the theme of remembrance and memory by associating it with starlight.  At the same time it interacts with the context by proposing itself as an element of street furniture, as a seat on which two or three people can sit at a time but also lie down to observe the sky and the lights.

 

Engraved on the concrete mixture are those reminiscent of the stitches in the traditional weaving of Samugheo's tapestries and blankets, the Pibiones.
